Steven Scott Gallery
Founded in May 1988, Steven Scott Gallery specializes in contemporary paintings, photographs, and works on paper by emerging, mid-career, and established American artists. The gallery has always represented an equal number of male and female artists and has always championed gender parity and racial equality.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Steven Scott (M.A. Art History, UMCP, 1988) has organized over two hundred exhibitions of extraordinary work by his gallery artists, eclectic in nature, comprising painterly realists, faux-naive expressionists, and evocative abstractionists. Scott has placed his gallery artists' work in dozens of museum exhibitions and permanent collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum in NYC; the National Gallery of Art, The National Museum of Women in the Arts and the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC; the Art Institute of Chicago and Museum of Contemporary, Chicago; the Academy Art Museum, Easton, MD; and The Baltimore Museum of Art and the Reginald Lewis Museum in Baltimore, MD, among many other public institutions.
After fourteen and a half years on North Charles Street in downtown Baltimore, the gallery relocated to the northwest suburb of Owings Mills in January 2003. The gallery returned downtown to the historic waterfront community of Fells Point in January 2009 and moved to the Mt. Vernon Historic District in May 2020 as a private dealership and fine art advisory by appointment only. The gallery plans to relocate to a new post-pandemic public space in early 2021.
